What this leaves out

  • Inflation, because everything is in today's dollars.
  • Investment growth.
  • Taxes.
  • Social Security that starts later than you retire.
How we got this number

We take the income you'll want, subtract Social Security and any pension, and show the gap. Then we divide your savings by that yearly gap to see about how long they'd last with no growth. This is an estimate, not investment advice.
